As the draw for the mixed doubles event in the Rio Olympics was revealed, the top 16 teams have been revealed with some big names getting included into the field. Carrying the charge for the Australians will be Sam Stosur and John Peers.
This will be the third time the duo will be playing together – having taken part in the Australian Open and Wimbledon this year. The two playing together managed to reach the second round while they were playing at home however the duo suffered a first round exit at the Wimbledon.
The mixed doubles category was introduced in the Olympics for the first time in the 2012 Games in London and Stosur managed to reach the quarterfinals while playing alongside former World No 1, Lleyton Hewitt.
But this year, Stosur will have a tough task on her hand as they are set to open their campaign against the 4th seeded Indian pairing of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna who are one of the most favorites to be in contention for a medal.
