When John Peers arrives at Kooyong this morning for his Davis Cup debut, there will not be a nook or cranny of Australia’s spiritual home of tennis he is unaware of.

Peers has represented Kooyong with distinction in pennant but he has never had a Saturday like today, one of critical importance to Australian tennis. With the World Group tie against the US evenly poised, Peers will represent the nation for the first time, probably alongside Sam Groth in a pivotal doubles rubber against the legendary Bryan brothers, barring any late selection change.
